The State Hermitage Museum | St. Petersburg, Russia | 1998, part of long-range project 1998 – 2005
From 1998 onwards several rooms of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, including the Rembrandt room and the Tent room with Dutch Masters, were provided completely with new lighting. Gloomy, dimly lit rooms are now bright and spacious. The old light bulbs have been replaced by light rails attached to steel wires, and by indirect lighting for the whole ceiling. The chandeliers now have new French candlelight bulbs which provide a wonderful, ambient illumination.
