Lighting

Renovation Lighting | Museum Willet-Holthuysen, Amsterdam | 1996, part of long-range project 1996 – 2010
During a thorough facelift the museum acquired a new electrical installation and lighting plan. To preserve the monumental character of the building, kilometres of new wiring were installed under the floor and behind the panelling.

The period rooms are lit by fragile, hanging light rods upon which horizontal up-lighters are placed for general lighting, and halogen spotlights for accent lighting. The candle lights of the chandeliers and candelabras have been replaced by subtle French electric candles. The hanging lamps in the corridor were given hidden up-lighters to improve the light in the corridor.
