Indonesia | The Discovery of the Past | De Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam | 2005
Three hundred Masterpieces from the Nasional Museum of Indonesia and the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden have been gathered in one show for the first time: large sculptures, gold discoveries, palace treasures, and unique ethnographic objects. The custom-made showcases of bamboo and glass create a feeling of floating in space with their low-mounted lighting system. The objects themselves are freely displayed against a quiet background in a soft, uniform lighting. Each section has a different colour.
